Who Are We?

Matt & Bryan's Work-Related Experiences

We are hard-working individuals who know how to get things done.  As we travel over 11,000 miles across North America, we have to be able to make game-time decisions on destinations and with time  - all while taking into consideration our personal budgets.  With around $5,000 each, we are running at a tight budget when gas is at an equivalent of $4.25 and up.

Below is a quick synopsis of our work ethic and work-related experiences.

BS in Marketing from University of Tampa

Looks for everyday adventure

College was always very important to me from a young age.  I was very fortunate to get into the University of Tampa and made the most of my experience there.  My freshman and sophomore years I was on the crew team, my sophomore year I was the president.  This was very exciting for me as I had to make speeches in front of a few hundred people twice a year to get funding for the club.

My junior year I spent abroad in London.  In London I met people from all over the USA in school as well as people from all over the world.  I was fortunate to be able to travel all over western Europe as well as the Middle East while going to school.  This showed me the diversity of people in culture and in thought of people that are much different than myself.

My senior year I started in doing a variety of internships.  These ranged from volunteering for the PGA Tour, to doing local charity work for Metropolitan Ministries.  I also interned with the local CBS affiliate in Tampa Bay.  I worked in the sales office in which I was opened up to the world of TV advertising.  After a summer at CBS I interned with a small print marketing company in Tampa.  This showed me a totally different view than that of CBS; that every penny counts when you are a small business.

Currently, before the trip began, I had been working promotions for the Tampa Bay Times.  If nothing else, this experience taught me how to network efficiently.  In the world of promotions, if you don't know people, your most likely not going to get the next job as promotions usually only last a few days at a time.

Overall I am a hardworking, dedicated individual, who knows what I want in life and will never stop working to achieve my goals.

"Never stop wanting to see what’s just around the bend."

AS in International Business from Monroe Community College

BS in Management Information Systems at RIT - Senior Status

Looks to do something slightly different each day

I know how to work hard and I have since my first days at Pontillo’s Pizzeria in Bushnell’s Basin, working my way up to management. Since graduating Pittsford Mendon High School in 2002, I have transferred to three different schools.

I attended Kent State University for 2 years, knocking off my liberal arts classes and spending some time on my own, outside of Rochester. After figuring out what I wanted to do, I came back to Rochester to attend Monroe Community College for an International Business degree & Liberal Arts and Sciences degree. From there, I was ready to transfer my credits to Rochester Institute of Technology.

Still leaning towards business and being interested in the growing telecommunication field, I decided to work for a Management Information Systems degree; I am currently at senior status. My school transfers and diverse travels have added to my well-balanced and well-rounded character. If the opportunity arises, and I see that I can learn from it, I will most definitely take a chance at that opportunity.

My most current job position (past 6 months), as a Global Information Systems Intern at Global Crossing Telecommunications, has put me in the position to learn the new Microsoft SharePoint 2007 software, and how to apply migration and design techniques to create an appealing and user-friendly interface. I was able to interact with people at every level within the company to get the job done effectively and efficiently.

"Always open to change and opportunity"
