Why Drive to Alaska?

We'll tell you why...

We love great road trips, but not just any normal trip.  Bryan and I are of the notion that a real trip does not just include the destination, but everything there is to see on the way there.  So we decided not to fly, but to drive to the last great frontier.  We planned it in 2006, but due to school and insufficient funds, we were unable to make our trip.  Now that school is out of the way, we want to make one last big trip on the road before we start to settle down with the company that will hire our ever-learning minds.

Why Drive To Alaska...

You say, “Why Drive to Alaska?”, we say, “Why Not!”  We believe that the drive between the start and finish is what traveling somewhere really means, not just the final destination.

Sure, we can take a cruise or a flight to Alaska – but we won’t see anything in between.  The people, the culture, the geography, the weather patterns and the road are where our vacations become more than just a red dot on a map.

We are going to experience more in the next six to seven weeks about ourselves, our country-side, our Canadian neighbors and our 49th state, Alaska, than we would if we just took a 14-day vacation to one destination.

Sure, we are driving over 11,000 miles in a cramped car – but this will give us experience about our own limits.  If we do this trip successfully, we will be able to do anything.  With thorough planning, contingency plans, budget control and site seeing destinations to boot, we have a well-planned vacation ahead of us.

We are going to spend a night or two in each large city en route to our destination to take in the nightlife, the locals, and culture.  Each night between the large cities, we will be camping out, making our own food and doing the wilderness scene.

It's going to be an amazing trip, a trip of a life-time.  Many people have said they are jealous of our trip, as they should be, we are going to have an amazing time!

Thanks for visiting!

Keep track of our travels, and visit back every few days as we update!

Visit our page often.  We will be keeping out set live and up to date as we travel across Canada to Alaska, down the west coast, then back through the states to Rochester.  The trip will be about 6 weeks long as we travel over 11,000 miles throughout North America..
